Here I take a look at how the players who helped us win promotion last season but have since moved on to pastures new are getting on at their new clubs. Jay O’Shea doesn’t feature as he has been injured and not yet started a game since joining Bury.

Stefan Scougall chipped in with a few goals and put in the sort of energetic displays we had become used to in the early part of last season as United overcame their poor start. He lost his place as the season progressed and now finds himself at Scottish Premiership club St Johnstone. The fans seem fairly impressed.

“Scougall is a good player but wasted out wide”

“Play Scougall through the middle please.”

“I take it Scougall isn’t fully match fit as he seems to be the first one to get subbied about 20 mins from the end.”

“Scougall needs to be central. He’s a creator, not a scorer though, so I hope folk don’t expect him to start knocking them in if he does play more in the trendy ‘number ten’ role.”

“Scougall looks the part.”

“Scougall has been solid at best.”

“foster and scougall seem to be great together both work hard and help each other out”

Marc McNulty didn’t have the best of times last season. His loan spell at Bradford City was cut short after he only managed one goal and when he returned to Bramall Lane in January he only started one game. The Scottish striker seems to have taken his poor form to his new club Coventry.

“He has looked devoid of confidence, but he basically hasn’t played first team football for a year and we’ve hardly been creating anything solid for him would give him a few more games IF we get the tactics right.”

“I have had concerns about McNulty in every game so far. From reading on here he today it sounds the same thing, he snaps at shots too much and shanks them, and has been lacking a killer instinct, many of his shots going well wide, or over the bar, or indeed he has been reluctant to shoot at all.”

“I think what you’re trying to say is he is shit”

“ surprised McNulty has a professional contract – he lacks composure, movement and any basic strikers’ intelligence”.

“Mcnulty has air shotted or plain cocked up multiple chances in every game he’s played.”

“He has disappointed me greatly. So many of his shots are wayward and at times he seems most reluctant to shoot at all.”

“fucking garbage. Doesn’t help that we keep playing high balls into him. But he lacks effort and never really seems to pose any kind of threat.”

“McNulty in particular seems to lack hunger and fight”

“don’t think he is useless by any means, but I think his confidence is shot.”

“Don’t think he is a striker reckon he’d do ok out wide as has some pace – could do a Noel Whelan out there I think.”

Harry Chapman certainly played his part in our promotion last season before picking up an injury in December that basically ended his season. He now finds himself back in League One at Blackburn and despite not starting a game for them so far the fans have liked the little they have seen.

“Chapman looks good”

“After yesterdays cameo i’d be looking for a way to get Chapman in the side mk were terified of him when he came on.”

“Chapman looks like the sort of player we’ve been missing since Damien Duff.”

“Chapman strikes me as a player who could play anywhere but his electric pace would terrify the traditional League One centre-half when he’s running at them.”

“In Harry Chapman we have a find a real gem for this league!”

“That Chapman looks like he’s going to do very nicely for us in this league.”

“This Chapman is a proper winger! Gets to the line..and looks up.”

“electric. Just electric. Whenever he got on the ball the whole BBE stood up. How long is it since we’ve had a player who could do that.”]

“Definitely deserves a start, excellent”

“Wow. The boy is lightning quick, positive player who looks awful to mark. Get him in the starting 11 Tony.”

Many Blades expected Ethan Ebanks-Landell to be back at Bramall Lane this season after initially impressing in his loan spell in the previous campaign. The move never materialised and the big centre half now finds himself at MK Dons.

“looks more solid than Walsh & Downing. Promising”

“Ebanks-Landell was superb”

“Ebanks-Landell was a beast and is going to be very important for us this season, easily our man of the match”

“I felt Ebanks-Landell was a weak link especially first half. But I’m not too worried.”

“Ebanks-Landell is a talented player, and proven at this level. The issue isn’t individuals – it’s the lack of recruitment in key areas”

Matt Done was another player who was a big part of our early season success before he dropped out of the starting line up. He is now back at his old club Rochdale but is still looking for hos first goal of the season.

“Ian Henderson and Matty Done – a marriage made in heaven.” Keith Hill, 2017. Hear, hear.”

“Great signing Matty Done.”

“Done didn’t look sharp to me last week, so perhaps coming off the bench will have more impact until he’s 100% ready.”

“Matty Done was strangely quiet”

“Got to get Done involved”

“Done doesn’t quite look the player he was in his last spell, can’t decide whether its lack of match sharpness or needing a goal to give him some confidence. In fairness he hasn’t had a lot of service yet either.”
