“A missed opportunity, but it did feel somewhat inevitable that the football gods might turn for Sheffield today, after it was a 1-0 loss at our place last season that started their period of turmoil”
“I was expecting Sheffield to be better than they were, especially after Wilder had had a full week with them, their result of losing late on against Charlton, losing the previous 6 games etc, but they were still really poor, hence why I was frustrated that we weren’t at our best/too many players not playing to their potential or what we’d seen previously.”
“Dog sh!te second half, they were there for taking, no surprises a s**t team do us again.”
“This Sheffield united team was easily the worst team we’ve faced since being in the championship, very worrying result today”
“Thought Sheffield were very poor/could see they lacked confidence etc, so we’re there for the taking.”
“They hadn’t won a point. We were at home and They were rock bottom!!!! It is beyond shambolic.”
” it was a bloody painful game to watch second half. Just did not turn up second half made old chippy side look better than they are!”
“The game was decent at times Sheff utd won’t be down the bottom for long ,we will have to battle every week.”
“Sheffield Utd are in an extremely false position given their squad. They were poorly managed and will end up in or around the play-offs”
“Very good first half, very bad second half.”
“Sheffield were slightly better in the second half and we got worse. “
“Ultimately, we were Wilder’ed. The unfortunate thing is that 10+ years ago when Wilder was in charge, we’d have conceded in the 80th minute (Greigh Leigh hitting the post?). We didn’t deserve 3 points, and I’m undecided on a draw”
“The game boils down to two facts for me:
1. Wilder stopped us doing a job on them.
2. As a consequence, they were able to do a job on us”
“so half time team talks changed the game…Wilder got it right….GR didnt…..hmmmm”
“Wilder won the tactical battle second half with superior players and got points.”
“Always going to be a tough one this after the run they’ve had and the new manager bounce. Wilder knows how to grind out results.”
“Decent enough first half, awful second half. Wilder deserves credit for putting a rocket up them at the break and making tweaks that we couldn’t live with.”
“I think we were out-managered there, Wilder obviously made a clever tweak at half time and we had no answer to it.”
“I’d be surprised if they don’t end up top 6. Showed their class in the second half, and Wilder knows how to meld a team and get results.”
“If you told me Sheffield U changed all 11 players at halftime I might have believed you”
“Some saying how poor that Sheffield United team is needs to have a quiet word with themselves. They’ve still got bags of quality and will finish way above us.
Side note – I thought the crowd were embarrassing today. Very quiet and unprepared to get behind the team.”
“Sheffield looked like a team with 0 confidence BUT to a man they scrapped for everything they won’t finish in the bottom half ( that poster above who said they were the worst team we played in the championship was talking out their a**e )”
“Sheff Utd then camped in our half until they scored, and we could do nothing much about their control. Overall we weren’t great, but not terrible either.”
“Think some just need to get some perspective on who Sheffield United are in footballing terms. With the same manager they’ve just brought back and the minority of the players, they finished with 90 points last season, and that’s with a further 2 deducted.
Their woes this season weren’t caused by Wilder, and he’s been brought back to fix them, and have some very good players too boot. They have a bench that would probably start for us.”
“On the evidence I’ve seen in our last 4 matches (and Coventry vs Birmingham early) Cov and Sheffield will be in the top 6 and Blues and Bristol will not. And nor will we.”
“McGuinness and Mee to good for Lankshear and Prelec.”
“Mee was fantastic for them.”
“I’m afraid bringing Marris on means you lose the fox in the box and are basically down to ten men. People are saying Lankshear looked off his game- I think the vastly experienced premier league quality Mee had him in his pocket.”
“I still think their goal shouldn’t have counted, it looked out of play beforehand, frustrating, was never going to be easy against Wilder, he’s no mug.”
“Gotta say Sheff United fans were some of the loudest at the Kass since we’ve come up”
“Tbf they were also some of the best last season”
“As the Sheff United fans loudly sung – we’re all having a party when Wednesday die”
“
