“The people running the club make me want to be physically sick. An owner whose football knowledge is so awful he rarely appoints the right coach. A chief exec whose poor practices almost got his previous club relegated by default. Constant links to an agent being investigated for malpractice. Shadowy figures everywhere you look. The club of Sir GT and Elton now reduced to a laughing stock in the wider footballing world, the butt of endless jokes by commentators and on phone-ins. Half the fan base slagging off the other half. And now joy of joys, the return of a coach rightly fired six years ago just because he’s available, free and gurns on video, and because the last one the owners decided was the right man suddenly turned out not to be despite going unbeaten for three matches.”

“Just an utter, utter disgrace of a football club, we really are. It’s beyond embarrassing at this point.”

“Two matches against former coaches this season..,two defeats. Edwards next.”

“this is a new low. I’m not just disappointed with the result, or the performance, but also the appalling team selection made by Javi.”

“Got what we deserve.”

“I’m in shock at how bad that was. The only game I can recall which comes close is the other match in which we wore the blue kit, at home to Blackburn – after which I wanted Pezzolano to be sacked..The only faintest glimmer of a bright spot was that we shifted away from zonal marking when defending set-pieces, and didn’t concede one (even though we were a bit lucky to not concede from a McGuinness header early on). But instead of conceding a sloppy set-piece goal, we chose to let in a sloppy open play one. You could see why Sheffield Utd had only scored 3 goals all season prior to today, they were almost as bad as we were, but we still seemed keen to help them get out of that slump.”

“I can’t believe how far Sheff U have fallen since last season. This match was absolutely there for the taking with some controlled aggressive attacking.”

“We looked so inept. This Sheffield United side are one of two teams ever to lose eight of their first nine second division games. And yet, throughout the game, we appeared as though the crisis team rooted to the foot of the table, and they as the upwardly mobile challengers. It was utterly pathetic”

Watching that makes a relegation scrap feel far more likely than flirting with the playoffs.”

“The manager has hardly done anything since he left us six years  ago to justify a return.
It’s a populist appointment rather than one based on any logic. And the popularity will soon vanish with many more performances and team selections like today.”

“That’s nine consecutive matches now without a win under this manager.”

“That was annoying, just when I thought it might get ok.”

“Second best all game but should have scored two, Selvik kept us in the game reallly.”

“Well played Sheffield, enjoy your three points and the new confidence boost. Pathetic. I am so angry with that performance but mainly at whoever picked than line up.”

“As for the game itself, do feel Sheffield United are in a false position”

“Not based on that performance they’re not. They were easily as bad as anyone we’ve played so far this season.
Wilder may still get them out of their slump with a bit more time, but that was as much a lucky break for them today against a terrible team in us, rather than them possibly beginning to turn things around.”

“Sheffield United did all the basics we did not do. They pressed, they knew where to pass, they had a plan. When we had the ball they had us closed down, two men on each player nearly. We had no chance of getting it forward and even one of the two goals we scored against Oxford was a bit of a fluke.”

“It’s not even as if Shitfield are a decent side. They are bottom for a reason. Any decent side would have had them. They were there for the taking.”

“He was sacked in the first place for a reason, I didn’t want him back, and won’t miss him when he’s gone by Christmas.”

“In the pub afterwards a group of Sheff Utd fans said two players stood out – Louza for being the best player on the pitch, and Keben for being “laughably bad”.

“Seen worse away days than that by a long way, but very dissapointing because of the same bizzare lineups as before”

“I’ve seen plenty worse away games than that, but what’s painful is it’s a continuation of the same lineups and same issues as previously seen.”
