“They’ve been a bit suspect in the middle of the park, no idea how Kalvin Phillips will be in there, if he’s not up to speed then Hackney and Morris will have a field day, more concerned Phillips will put a dodgy tackle in and injure someone important for us.
Their defence is solid, but with Bamford out Cannon doesn’t lead the line as well and Ings can’t even get on the pitch, so glad we didn’t sign him (though absolutely we should have paid Bamford what he wanted!)”
“Just watched highlights of sheff utds game. All their threat is down their right side and then Hamer floating around on the left.
I’d go with 3 in cm again and use Browne to almost man mark Hamer, he’s most dangerous when he has time to either pick out a long pass or take a long shot. Targett will need help at LB aswell as they do lots of doubling up.
Oxford did get in a few times down sheff utds left so Brittain and Whittaker could do a bit of damage. They do press hard though and wilder will have them well up for it, think it’s gonna be a tough one, if we start gifting away possession and being sloppy I don’t think it will go well”
“One aspect of Sheff Utd that will help us. The way we play, Hamer will get knackered early. We’ve seen in 2 play off finals now that he has no stamina. We run teams into the ground. Getting him out of the game will be key I think.”
