“Well, not sure where that perfomance came from. Yes I know we lost, but having seen us ship 10 goals in the last two away games and being pretty downbeat (to say the least) about the team in general, suddenly today, we have a team.
We were in fact the better team which was in itself a huge surprise. Many contacts were predicting anything from a four nil defeat up to 10.”

“Superb. Gutted we couldn’t score – but overall this was an excellent performance. We moved the ball quickly, we got it wide quickly and we didn’t eff around with at the back (but we also didn’t hoof it needlessly).”

“No shame in losing to league leaders playing like that.”

“Arrived expecting a drubbing and left feeling positive. A brilliant save by their keeper and a shot from Gyabi (should’ve scored) and things could’ve been so different.
While team played well, went a bit flat when Gyabi went off, guess it was because he was on a booking and there were a lot of “questionable” decisions by the ref. I think the expression was he was a “homer”
For long periods we were well on top. Proud of them.”

“There was nothing between the teams. They scored a sweet strike but it fell nicely for him. Unfortunately football is a game of fine margins where two evenly matched teams (if anything Argyle were slightly better) can produce 90 minutes of good play and it’s one split second that decides the result. The big difference from recent weeks seemed to be 1) no obvious weak links in the starting line up and everyone played at least reasonably well 2) we seemed to have more space and time to play out – whether that was a big pitch, Sheff pressing less aggressively or Argyle’s passing and movement improving idk”

” If Michael Cooper not Man of Match, would be surprised.”

“Well played the lads, much more like it! Very encouraging against the best team in the league, bravo!”

“Was dreading watching this game but was pleasantly surprised. Found the game entertaining.”

“yes we lost but I enjoyed watching every minute of that today.”

“In football you don’t always get the result you deserve but don’t underestimate a good performance, despite the loss. Our recent displays have screamed ‘relegation’! That was lightyears better than recent performances. If we continue to play like that the wins will come.”

“Sheffield United were nowhere near as good going forward as I expected, but do have a steel defence.”

“a vast improvement but still a defeat and only one win in eleven.”

“rather go down fighting than meekly getting thrashed every week. They bought on a £20m substitute and we bought on people who cost us zero (not sure if we paid a fee for Wright but if we did not much)”

“I felt Sheff Utd allowed us on to them but picked us off efficiently without expending too much energy.”

“What is it about the English and their ability to turn defeat into some sort of moral victory?
I’ve always put it down to Dunkirk as to when we adopted this bizarre and unique national characteristic.
I know we’re all a bit desperate for something positive to happen but at the end of the day, we lost 2-0. Talk about clutching at straws.
The display was clearly better, but that’s compared to the absolute shambles that has become the norm away from HP.
At 5.00pm, another 3 possible points had gone and we have now taken the grand total of 5 points from the last 33 that were available. Looking at our next 5 games up until the break for the FA Cup, we might manage a couple of draws at best”

“I’m not feeling the need to join in with the celebrations of a 2-0 loss because we didn’t get absolutely tonked. We were a bit better, but we still didn’t score and we lost and, for my money, the substitutions we made killed us when we could have potentially snatched a draw. Ok it was against one of the sides who might go up, but, for some reason they didn’t press us the way other sides have.”

“There are 11 pages of sweary, entitilist nonsense on that Blades forum and just 1 single comment giving us any credit.”

“Never mind their fans, Cooper said it was probably the hardest game they had had all season and their manager admitted we were the better team in the first half.”

“Bramall Lane – what a ground that is. Top 5 favourite for me but the home fans were absolutely non existent.”

“It was a library wasnt it. I give it the quietest away ground award so far this season.”

“Couldn’t believe it. Top of the league, haven’t conceded for weeks and weeks and weeks there. If that can’t get you going, what can?
Imagine a Steel City derby is superb though. First time there and loved it”

“Because our performance quietened the crowd. They didn’t expect us to be in control of the game so much, nor witness their team being second best for large parts.”

“There were some pretty poor atmospheres at HP when we were running away with Div 1. This was a routine win for them so nothing to get excited about. Not unlike us beating somone like Cambridge Utd at home. Generally, crowds are much quieter these days!”

“Blades fans in the pub were very complimentary about our performance and The Green Army. Very different experience in and around Bramall Lane today than previous visit to Hillsborough.”
