“We will win this”
“I don’t think these are that good”
“There for the taking but our defence is too dodgy if we try playing on the front foot.”
“If we replicate how we played against Sunderland, we win. I doubt we will have that about us away from home. Surely the message from Frank here is ‘Don’t lose’? Utd are under huge pressure and cracks have been appearing and they have managed to produce a win when not playing well. We must get at them early and try and control the ball more than them, as we did last week.”
“If we play as we did against Derby then we lose 6-0. If we play as we did against Sunderland then we win 3-2.”
“I haven’t been massively impressed with Sheff U when I’ve seen them, nor does their starting 11 worry me like a Burnley or Leeds. This was their 11 last time out.
However they’ve won the most points in the league after 38 games so they must be doing something right.”
“Sakamoto will have Burrows beaten and Wright will be too much for their donkey centre backs.
Choudhury is an animal and a limited footballer, shame Rudoni isn’t 100%.
They obviously have lots of attacking talent but so do we.”
“Not to dismiss them but their home form hasn’t been the best lately with their away form carrying them.
Also seen it on their forums they struggle when teams attack them and go for it.
As such 2-1 Coventry and a very sour press conference from Wilder after.”
“Wilder is a poundshop Brian Clough.”
“My belief is that with a decent manager they would be top in this league by a good few points. Parachute payments meant that they hoovered up the free agents nobody else could easily afford from a wages perspective. They have been playing poorly for a while but keep winning which is more a case of despite Wilder being the manager. They are likely to be promoted”
“They’ve got a chance of breaking the 100 point barrier, not really sure I agree they could be that much better off.”
“Would love to stick a massive boot in their promotion charge! Saw that arrogant prick in their dugout out on the lash after the Sheffield Derby the other week and he definitely thinks they are already promoted”
“Haji will be roughed up by the Sheff U CB’s. Wilder will make sure of that. Danger man. Haji seems to know how to look after himself though, and his lesser performances are not based on defenders intimidating him from what I’ve seen.”
“Let them put 2 or 3 players on Wright. We have goalscorers throughout the team. Still won’t stop him either especially with the high balls coming into the area putting them into panic mode”
“Wilder , just like Warnock , horrible managers who set their teams up to be rough & try to stop the opposition playing……. at all costs .
They might get second place & promotion , but inevitably come straight back down, playing their brand of football”
“That’s not a fair representation of Sheffield United really, they’ve only made 16 more fouls than us this season. Any team’s objective is to stop the opposition playing?”
“despite SU’s greater consistency, they look first amongst equals, whereas Burnley and Leeds look like they could compete a level up (albeit in Burnley’s case, very dully).
SU were as bad a top-flight team as there has ever been, and if they go up, they will be again.”
“They’re definitely the most beatable of the top three, they’ve lost as many games as the other two put together.”
“it’ll be a minor miracle if we manage to stop them scoring.
i just hope we don’t try and sit and defend at any point in the game, even if we are ahead. we’ll need some goals to get anything out of this one”
“We need to attack but not with our defenders. They’re not playing that well but they’re still on another level to Sunderland.
Their players have been running on reserves and have several out injured. This 2 week break could well be to their advantage. I see them starting strongly with us gradually getting on top. If we can hold on for the first 30 minutes or so I think we will get something from this game.”
“Several players out injured and players knackered although they will have had a 2 week break. But they haven’t played as well as their results suggest just like Sunderland.”
“Sneaky suspicion we’ll win this in the last min”
“They are a jammy bunch of shithouses, as its away I’ll say a 2-1 defeat but not ruling anything out here.”
“You don’t get to 2nd with a points deduction by being jammy”
“Jammy is probably a bit far tbh, they have a great squad at this level, that said they never seem to play that well but they do have quality from front to back which really does make a difference.
We have to be on it to get anything out of these.”
“There are 3 teams in this league who are streets ahead of the rest and they’re one of them.
Having said that, I’m still cautiously optimistic we can get something.”
“Would take a draw. Come through unscathed and go again at Burnley. I have these 2 both down as losses.”
“Would definitely take a point here. They’re masters of grinding results out, and we struggle against the bully and grind teams.”
“I think we’ll lose but it will be a much better game than Leeds. On the other hand, I think we can get something from Burnley at home.”
“They are a different type of side to Leeds but have gained more points than Leeds(!) and would be top of it weren’t for their points deduction.
They are up there with us in form tables etc, one of the best home records in the league.
Not quite sure why people are saying things like they are there for the taking or they would like to face them over two legs or in a play off game.
This is as tough as it gets and defensively we need to be absolutely on our A game to get anything out of this one.”
“They’ve got a good team and it’ll be a hard game.”
“Their fans are well known for being thick mutants who don’t understand football tbf.
They grind out wins. And for all the lauding of Leeds on here as if they’re PSG Sheffield United are level with them”
“I lived in Sheffield for about 5 years and connected with their fans better than Wednesday fans. I found United fans more like Cov fans. Wednesday fans more like Aston Villa fans. Just my take on it.”
“you stop Hamer you stop them full stop.”
“As for Hamer, i loved him when he was here. But he lead us on and moved to an absolutely loathsome football club, i don’t see why anyone should feel obliged to like him tbh. I think he’s a fat little shithouse who’s wasting his talent as he’d rather have a kebab than put the extra work in. Be 28 by the time next season starts and up to this point his peak is a standout Championship player. Hardly the generational talent some make out.”
” if your honest your just being bitter and childish about hamer.”
“I have no idea why Hamer is adored and O’hare despised. One won a league title with us. It’s crazy”
“The absolute jilted lover obsession from people about Hamer who have spent a year and a half now calling him fat and saying they don’t care about him and everyone else is obsessed makes this thread a treat. Keep it up guys. I almost believe you don’t care.”
“He left us at, let’s face it, the only opportunity he got to join one of the most horrible clubs in the football league”
“Nothing would give me more satisfaction than winning the play off final against the blades and singing it could have been you to Ohare and Hamer. Pure gold that would be”
“Can’t wait for us get promoted, Sheff U to not, and the subsequent ‘bring him home’ social media campaign for Gus.”
“combined 11 would look like for me:
Cooper
MvE
Thomas
Ahmedhozic
Burrows
Grimes
Hamer
Rudoni
Sakamoto
Wright
EMC”
