LEICESTER FANS
“IMO Souttar is our best defender”
“Would walk into just about any team in championship and in the couple of games he played for us, he was absolutely fine. “
“I really like him and I don’t think he’s ever done an awful lot wrong. He’s better on the ball than some give him credit for as well. “
“Very good passer.”
“I like him. And defensively.from set pieces he’s a god send. tbh, he’s well above Coady (who I have never really rated) in skill set..apart from Leadership”
“Wish he was used more tbh. Prefer him to Coady in the rotation. Does well every time he plays”
“fwiw, I think he’s more than capable of being a success here. in fact i’m sure he would have been if enzo had chosen him over vesty. “
“Better defender than Vestegaard and a half decent passer”
” Think theres a good player there if given a chance but time to cut ties.”
“Seems a decent lad. I think he has been a bit unfortunate how things have worked out.”
“Great attitude but I just don’t think the system suits him”
“should have been utilized much more often. “
“surprised he hasn’t played more “
“He’s slow af. I just don’t think the lad has been given fair crack. “
“Souttar seems like a old school defender, good in the air and perhaps not afraid to tackle from what I have seen of him, he isnt a player for starting attacks from the back,
Feels like one of those signings where we signed for the sake of signing as we for whatever reason couldnt get our targets at top of list.”
“Souttar is a backs against the wall defender, not in a high line defence. Similar to Cannon really, both mid table Championship at best and we overpaid big time for both, don’t be fooled by the price tags only we’d pay. “
“Souttar is rubbish.
Another bad signing from last season which was awash with rubbishness”
“Hard to take Australia seriously as a sporting nation when our fourth choice centre back is the best player that’s ever played for them.”
STOKE FANS
“A class player for this league.”
“any championship club would take him in a heart beat he improves every defence in this league”
“He is a top end Championship centre back, better than anyone we currently have on the staff. “
“He’s everything we have been lacking since……since he left strangely enough. A quality all round CB, strong, agile, good in the air, good feet, excellent tackler”
“he’s country miles better than what we have. “
“He was imperious for us at times. “
“I thought he was calm, assured and looked very confident and quite assertive at times”
“His long range and forward passing in general is very impressive.”
“He was a calm head in a shit team. Maybe that made him look better. Who knows.”
“He was immense for us but he’s best suited to being the middle centre back of three and I’d rather put my eyes out than watch another season of Stoke playing a wingback system. “
“Don’t accept the idea that ‘he’s only good in a 3’ played and excelled in back 4 for Australia at a World Cup”
“I’d only want him back if it was as part of a back three and not a two.”
“In a three he’s perfect but when things seem to be shifting back to a back 4 then he’s absolutely finished especially if the fullbacks push up.”
“Will slot in perfectly in Wilder’s back 3.”
“Harry for me is only useful in a 3. I also think it is relatively easy to play in the middle of a 3 and look fairly useful as you’re not getting pulled all over the shop whilst basically covering for the other two. In fairness to him he could ping a ball.
I just feel he’s benefited and subsequently suffered from a change in fashion with 3 at the back going out as quickly as it came in. In a four he’s horrendous. “
“I’d have him in a heartbeat, especially in a 3. Although he is slower than some”
“A shame about his pace, he’s exactly the sort of character we should be looking at. “
“Great player, but has zero pace”
“Far too slow”
“He’s a bit slow. He would do ok in a defensive team”
“I never thought Souttar was all that slow , maybe on the initial turn but not once he’s got going.”
“I never thought he was particularly slow, certainly once he gets going. He’s just got one of those running styles”
“I know two lads who have played against him, one who played several seasons in the Premier League and he said Harry is rapid. He’s is cumbersome with his initial movements and slow around his ankles but in a foot race, he’s quick.”
“He’s certainly no lumberjack. He’s superb in the air, very good tackler, and great at passing and getting the ball forward. Those 16 league games he started for us over 2 years ago formed part of the best back three we’ve ever had.”
“He’s not at all slow at full pelt, I don’t think that’s what people mean. But if he gets caught high or on the turn he’s in trouble, and that can happen a lot at a high level.”
“He’s an average CB at this level”
“His goal scoring record is abysmal. “
“Doesn’t score anywhere near enough from set pieces. “
“He poses next to no threat at the other end. He’s only ever scored well internationally against people a foot shorter than him. Excellent defensively in the air but lacks the aggression to be an attacking threat at corners. “
“He seemed to dine out on for months on ‘that’ World Cup game where he was Australia’s talisman keeping Messi and company at bay.”
“He could barely get onto a Championship club’s bench last season”
“he was a player of high potential and now he is a player that in truth many would struggle to remember. Due to injury and timing he never really had the backup of a number of high quality seasons to back himself up with at this level to afford him the disappearance into Leicesters reserve side – coupled with his now no doubt huge salary. I’d love to hear the sport science conversations around an ACL injury that doesn’t get much testing for 12 months after a very quick return.”
