“One of life’s guarantees, losing away at Sheff Utd”

“Thought we were outplayed by a better team who have parachute money and there’s no shame in that.”

“No shame in losing to a relegated Prem team”

“Didn’t think it was a free kick, but we didn’t set up right and got punished.
They deserved the points, but wemove on with pride, especially first half display.
They’re bringing £20m players off the bench. No shame in losing that.”

“Personally don’t mind losing 1-0 at Sheff U, they have about 4 times our budget, most teams will lose there this season.”

“We were never likely to get anything out of today. Tough place to go against a side that’ll be challenging for autos and we were separated by a moment of magic on a free kick. Have to take those ones on the chin. The games like today won’t be the ones that define our season.”

“Thought we were outplayed and out fought today.”

“Sheff Utds centre halves wont have an easier game all season”

“We were not unlucky. We have up twenty shots, gave up multiple openings and defensively messed up a free kick which having four minimum, or five (preferred) men in a wall made it a lot easier for Hamer.
If we had a free kick 19 yards from gol and you saw the opposition put three people including a 5’6 player in the wall – what would you be thinking?
Im not overly upset. The gulf is huge. The money is huge and we only lost 1-0. The difference in technical skill set is huge. My goal is to be safe and not in a relegation fight. “

“The criticism RE the goal is absolutely ludicrous and daft. It’s a fantastic strike. The wall was not the reason it went in.”

“The gulf between these teams is certainly not shown in the score line.”

“Anyone think Sheffield Utd were just a bit better than us?”

“man to man quality was just better and sheff utd controlled every part of the game.”

“First half ok. Second half overpowered by a much better side that pressed us into mistakes all over the place”

“First half good, second half poor. Better team won. As long as we’re not getting blown away in games like that we should have enough about us to stay up.”

“2nd half has clearly showed the relegated Premier League club and promoted League 1 club.
To limit them to one goal could be seen as a positive if you’re willing to open your mind to them after that.
Tough 45 mins to watch, even when we must have all known how difficult this game was going to be.
Had it been the boxing, ref would have stepped in a lot sooner to end the bout.”

“I was happy at half time – nothing special, but we stuck at it and were always in the game, with Sheffield looking the better team over all – quicker, stronger in the battle and better with the ball. But second half was decidedly poor. It seems that we came with a game plan to get a point, and thought after the first half that we could get away with hunkering down and hanging on for the point. It did nearly work apart from the dodgy free kick. So yes a ref’s decision did affect the result, and there were  a few others as well, but overall Madley wasn’t that intrusive.
Effectively the Blades being stronger and quicker in the challenges, and better on the ball gradually wore us down. Yet we were never out of it all match long, even if it looked like we would never score if we played till next Saturday. One good thing about this season’s Rams is that opposition teams are being restricted to very few good chances, and having to make do with long range efforts. It may be that the teams we have played aren’t that potent, but it could be that we re very effective at shutting teams out. In the same way, our almost complete inability to pass to another team mate used to be a characteristic of previous seasons, but could also be because of Sheffield United’s pressing and closing down. But the other factor is that it looked very much like we had gone for the point, but then couldn’t find the extra gear we needed to go looking for the equaliser.”

“Not bothered about the result as it was expected, I am bothered about the performance. I know they are good side but to not have a shot on target is pretty poor.”

“While I remain largely critical of the performance, I’m definitely unbothered by the result. It’ll go on record as simply a 1 goal defeat away against a better team and that’s all that really matters.”

“I think we tried to play in the right manner (not hoof it) but Sheffield squeezed the life out of any space we tried to create. They were quicker and stronger to the second ball so our ball retention (2nd half) was really poor. We just couldn’t get our heads up. I guess the strength of an Ozoh may have allowed him to get his head up and find a pass because sometimes there were three Sheffield players on one of ours so others must have been in space but couldn’t be found. It made for a frustrating second half because we just couldn’t t mount any kind of challenge”

“It doesn’t take a genius, critic, analytic or a******* to lay out what happened: we lost to a better team with a moment of real quality.
On the flip side: that’s the lowest xG Sheffield United have had at home since playing Arsenal in March. It shows that we were able to really restrict them to good opportunities and that’s something that we need and can count on to keep us in games.
If we score that chance in the first 10 minutes, who knows what kind of game we would’ve seen. I do like how we can consistently restrict teams to poor quality chances, though. It’s a great trait to have. “

“Sheff U really scouted everything we could throw at them.Sheff U are one of those champ teams that have stand out players but are in a stagnant, rigid system. It works in terms of results in this league, but I didn’t come away from that game thinking Sheff U are unbeatable. Thought there were even signs today of Moore and a couple of others getting frustrated with that ‘Wilder style’ too. They’ll be fine, but I just felt they were uninspiring all things considered. Maybe that’s down to our defensive work which I did was pretty solid.”

“Sheff Utd were shocking in the final third and did wonders to help us keep the score down.”

“Very disappointing 2nd half but we could still have taken a point if it wasn’t for a dodgy decision and defending for the free kick.”

“Robbed of a point by a non free kick”

“Away at Premier League team in waiting. They scored a goal from a dodgy free kick and created very little else.”

“Expected nothing, got nothing today. But felt like Sheff U were there for the taking.”

“Frustrating because I don’t think Sheff Utd were all that today.”

“yes Sheffield Utd just about deserved it but our lads put in a lot of effort certainly weren’t disgraced .Don’t understand some of the comments about Nels , had his hands full today with Moore , a clever, shrewd awkward centre forward , on the whole I thought Nels did well against him .One last thing , apart from the pathetic Billy Sharp chants, I thought our support again was tremendous”

“We have about 15 fans that are Obsessed with Billy Sharpe . They never let up the whole game . Won’t join in with the main group with the supportive chanting . They can’t wait for the Utd home game now .”

“Two blokes in front of me spent the entire game shouting obscenities and gesturing at Sheffield fans in the upper tier and on the left side. They hardly watched the game at all. Then proceeded to ask how Zetterström was an international keeper and let that free kick in (but in a lot more base and irate way). Then one of them was constantly yelling “Cooper” trying to get the attention of their keeper.
it’s one thing trying to watch the game and get behind the lads when we’re struggling to get to our end of the pitch but listening to those two tossers made it a lot worse!!”

“Ah well. No big deal.

“Let’s talk about how we beat them 1 nil back in 1987, when we took over 20,000 to their shitty little ground.”
