“United’s is worth millions and millions, they’ve got premier league quality players, we’re in transition and have an owner that won’t back the manager at all and they still had to cheat, we walk away with much more pride”

“Lets remember we are playing against a team funded by PL parachute payments.”

“Bit of context the LOAN FEE for Rak Saki is about the same as the TRANSFER fees for our whole team today…”

“Before the game I was more worried we were going to get hammered rather than lose.
Nothing really in the game other than a 10 minute spell at the start of the second half, thought they looked a much better side after Arblaster went off (not sure what the hype is with him) and they scored with their only chance of the game…. And considering that match day squad cost over £40m there’s no shame in that.”

“They really thought they were going to batter us, they didn’t. A tight local derby which further proves they really aren’t that great, just have a couple of players with some extra quality..money talks”

“They are a premiership squad with 40k a week players. Parachute payments and a premiership manager who is offended by Lino’s eating sandwiches. We are a 2nd term championship team filled with of freebies and loans.
We have run them close and deserved a draw at least.
Never like losing to that lot but it’s upwards and onwards with no shame “

“Not gutted at all, to be fair we looked the better team”

“Decent result.
No Remembrance Day Massacre for Dem Blades.

I’ll take that scoreline all day long.
When the date of the match was shifted to today, I feared the worst.
A named day to commemorate a potential thrashing, with the Blades at home, having been gifted £50 million and told not to come back until they’ve spent it.
Cheapskate Channers by contrast spends £2 million on 11 players. But the settling of scores for Boxing Day didn’t happen – was Tufty too cautious, I ask?
Boxing Day was a contest between two evenly-matched teams; Remembrance Day wasn’t, and Dem Blades didn’t seize the opportunity.
We’ll lose to all the parachute clubs, as we’ve got a poo team, but if United can’t avenge Boxing Day under these circumstances, then they never will.”

“They really expected to batter us today… they are sooooooooooo desperate for a BDM type score, after Watford this was their chance and they weren’t good enough to do it…
When they realise tomorrow how fine the margin was, despite their £s…. they will be concerned
We need them to stay down this season “

“My personal opinion is that we were the best side, despite creating the square route of Jack.
we looked comfortable throughout despite 2-3 minutes in the early stages of the second half.
we didn’t create much but neither did they.
honestly expected a lot more from them. “

“All this ‘light years ahead’ talk is nonsense. If they don’t go up this season then they’re one bad transfer window away from going back to being a midtable average championship club.”

“They’ve gone up and come down more times than I can count, drenched in cash each time, and where has it got them? They’re still just a good championship team that would get mullered in the top flight again if they end up there.
Honestly, they will know that was a crap performance. “

“We aren’t that far away.
They will be a lot more concerned about the match at Hillsborough than they were before today. “

“I worry that they will sneak a spawny winner at hillsborough. That’s the luck they get.”

“Thought they were poor and were very lucky to win, we had the better half chances and that last ditch tackle on Musaba saved them.
They gained nothing out of this game other than 3 pines”

“Let’s he honest it was a tepid win for them.”

“They just about edged a tight affair but with their squad at home it’s hardly a great success. Plenty of effort from us but lacked quality across the board when it mattered. It could have been and feared a lot, lot worse.”

“I thought we were good for how we dealt against such a pricey team, if soutter wasn’t about 8 foot tall I honestly think we could’ve won that game. Can’t be happy losing to them scruffs obviously but we didn’t embarrass ourselves by any means”

“BBC reporting a deserved win for the home side. Thought it was 50/50 myself.”

“For me, only Leeds have looked a class above us. Sunderland weren’t that great, it was our kamikaze play on the day.”

“Yeah at the end of the day a draw would have been a a fairer result . But got to remember their joint top . We’re a work in progress up and down middling side .”

“Don’t think they will go up Leeds and Burnley are better.”

“To paraphrase the rocky film,  they won but they did not beat us.

If they are one of the best teams in the league, we have nothing to fear”

“That could very easily have been worse and feels in part like a bullet dodged.”

“Ok they scored & we didn’t but they weren’t better than us”

“It was a very well worked goal.
If we’d scored a goal like that we’d be creaming our panties.
Hard to take but hold your hand and( grudgingly) accept it.”

“Hamer was the difference – a second ahead – but its clear why they don’t concede many, play percentages and go wings.”

“There wasn’t a lot in it but I thought they just shaded it. Hamer and de Souza for them were a cut above anybody we had.”

“Wilders after whistle antics, fist pumping and looking into the sky as if he was overcome with emotion, was genuinely one of the most cringeworthy things he’s done (and he’s done a lot of cringeworthy stuff). It just didn’t match the atmosphere and was blatantly put on. United are becoming more and more a bit of a nothing yo-yo club. Even when they’re ‘good’ it’s just all a bit meh.”

“Deserved a point. United expected an easier game and clearly relieved given by Wilders OTT show for the cameras.”

“Thought Wilder’s reaction was totally OTT.
A fortunate 1-0 win by a parachute payment enabled ex Premier League team against a recent League One promoted team who escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth was hardly cause for such manic celebration.
The one thing to come out of this game is that the “Gap” is well and truly closing. “

“Wilder was expecting to give us a good hiding today and he didn’t get so he went for the over the top celebrations instead, oh Danny if you’re in a restaurant again with him and he invites you over tell him to F Off”

“Sad to say Wilder had Röhl in his pocket today.”

“First half it was the other way around – Wilder had to change it at half time as they created nothing and we were comfortable. (CW 0 – 1 DR).
Second half Wilder’s changes worked for a critical 15 mins, and that was enough. He then made good subs and saw the game out. (CW 2 – 1)”

“First half was very “cagey”.

Owls were controlling game.
Wilder like it or not IS a good Manager.
One piece of magic + they nick it.”

“Were they better? Yes, just. Were they cheating b*****s backed up by a weak referee? Yes. No disgrace today. Disappointing but there we go. Reyt Im off to meet Wilders daughter for some slap n tickle”

“1-0 to the referee, shocking officiating second half”

“Can tell they’ve been to the Premier League though, every two mins on the floor. A bit embarrassing tbf.”

“Ref helped us more than he helped them
We benefitted from a staccato game, they didnt”

“United have those extra gears to go through, and have quality all over the pitch to make the difference, buying players like Burrows for £4m was a steal, hel’ll be worth at least 5 times as much as that if Utd go up, Souza, Hamer, Ohare, the youngsters that were brought on is the biggest difference, it’s a great blend and a way to raise cash and quality. “

“Hamer looked a class above everyone else to me…makes time for himself on the pitch and a really decent footballer!! “

“Souttar was the difference today.
He’s probably the best centre back in the division. They’ve only let 7 goals by all season, we let 6 by in one match.
That gives them a good chance of promotion. But they need to keep him fit.”

“Wish we had a CB like Souttar.”

“He was excellent. They have that bit of quality that we don’t have.”

“If you take out the fact it’s a Derby, the two sides are utterly miles apart despite what the other lot would have you believe.”

“They’re top of the league for a reason and haven’t conceded a goal at home since August.
No shame in admitting they were the better team and it showed.
Let’s have em at Hillsborough “

“Did their fans actually sing at any point?
From how it sounded on TV (without commentators I must add) it was like a morgue. Could hear a pin drop it was that quiet which surprised me considering the season they’re having
As for the match itself, a draw would have been a fairer result as apart from the goal I can’t remember a single chance the pigs created”

“It took until injury time for them to create an atmosphere. ******** supporters “

“1. I expected them to be far superior with the money they have spent. The Palace winger alone cost them a £4m loan fee but they were no better than us. They had more of the ball but created zilch
2. I expected their fans to create an atmosphere considering their league position and current form but it sounded so flat. They even stopped booing Lowe after half an hour as they couldn’t be arsed “

“Could you imagine if we had the chance to go joint top and were playing the pigs at home? Hillsborough would be deafening “

“I think it came across as more of a relief for the …. They expected to steamroll us and in the end scraped the win.
Even the celebrations came across as a bit desperate “

“Our performance silenced them, they expected a rout and couldn’t wait for the final whistle.”

“Our Time Will Come. Let our esteemed neighbours enjoy today because ‘We’ll be BACK’.”

  1. Some absolutely amazing comments, some more balanced . It was a Derby game. Form goes out the window. There’s only going to be a mistake or a bit of quality that wins it. We have it,weds don’t for now. This bullshit about £4m loan fee for Rak Sakyi😂 a million if he stays till end of season. As for spending loads? Harrison was £2m down 2 to pay if we get promoted. Bournemouth got jebbison,we got Moore? As for anyone at lane on £40k a week you’re talking absolute bollox
