“There was one Sheffield related sporting event I’ve been watching today, and it wasn’t this game”
“Lots to be positive about. Unless you’re a Watford fan, of course.”
“Nothing to be positive about in that game.
Poor quality from both teams
Both teams wasted as much time as possible.
The ref was terrible.
The sort of afternoon that makes me wonder why I go to football.”
“I left at 76′. Can’t remember the last time I did that. Usually stay to the end, though I went after the 2nd goal last week. Absolutely pathetic performance, and yet… still, somehow, unbelievably, not the worst team on the pitch. At least not in the first half.
Depressing stuff.”
“We actually finished the first half and started the second well so was hopeful of a good display as I say but the silly fluke first goal killed us then we fell asleep from a throw in again straight after making some subs.
Then were basically offered nothing – don’t know if they weren’t bothered or just didn’t know what to do.”
“Well there was some hope for 5/10 minutes then they scored and that was it .
Waste of an afternoon really .”
“Let in a soft goal and no response then fell asleep from a throw again .
And the rest of the game was a non event .
Apparently some players have been late for training but not fined ?!”
“Game plan was non existent, players didn’t care and it showed when we went behind.
Still just stood in the technical area with arms folded, not giving instructions or encouragement, and each round of subs made us even worse.”
“The second half was IMHO as bad if not worse than the Oxford performance. Expect Pollock will hire a plane to fly over the ground on 2 May with a banner saying “Its not my fault” as after that the apology gestures need to step up a bit.
“Could have been worse if Irankunda had got sent off for more petulance. Thought 53 tried, little Mendy was poor today, Selvik really is much worse than Bachmann.
There second goal was well taken.
Overall a thoroughly entertaining afternoon out.”
“The ref was terrible which was nice, 4 penalty shouts, at least 2 of them should have been a penalty.”
“The ref gave us absolutely nothing until it didn’t matter. His decisions wore us down until he had us beat. 3 possible penalties not given. That shouldn’t be an excuse for the performance of the players though.”
“Rubbish. Still Out. Ref was a cheating scumbag. Selvik slicing simple clearances. Bamford is better than all our strikers. Next.”
“Watford have been crying out for a player like Sir Patrick Bamford since we were relegated. Today he gave a masterclass in centre forward play – full of running, his strength and physical presence combined with no little skill and an awareness of what is going on around him showed just what we lack. To think, this gifted player, whose testosterone-packed performances and rugged good looks have ensured he has been a firm favourite with fans at every club he has graced throughout his long and spectacularly successful career, was a free agent at the start of this season. The fact that we chose to overlook this most natural of ‘natural goalscorers’ – opting instead for the utterly hopeless K9 – says everything about the people running our club.”
“Hello Patrick!”
“The fact Bamford scored both goals was the icing on the cake for a regime that prioritises player trading over real-time improvement.
Gracia knew Bamford was available as a free transfer and recommended him. Yes, his best days were behind him and his injury record isn’t great but he’s a proven operator and would have added something useful to the top end of the pitch. But, of course, there wouldn’t have been a slice of cake for Mogi, who suggested a certain E. Dennis instead. (Apparently, Dennis couldn’t get a work permit anyway).”
“I care about this result as much as our players do.
Bamford showed his class, what a player he could have been if it wasnt for the injuries.”
“2 goals in the last 5 games against Leicester, Oxford, Charlton, QPR & Sheffield United.
Brutal”
“We’re 4th bottom in a league table starting from 1st Jan, second bottom in a league table starting from 1st March (2 more points than Sheffield Wednesday, 1 fewer than Leicester)”
“Line them up and shoot the lot of them”
