“Maybe the fact he’s somewhat contributed to a promotion side might help but I’d be shocked if we get 2.5m for him again like we paid”

“Let’s be honest he’s canny crap. Been known as a good lad and good for team morale instead of what he can do on the pitch is pretty embarrassing really. Needs a permanent move he wouldn’t of made it here in the championship never mind the prem.”

“We’re in the premier league he’s nowhere near the standard required
Struggled massively at times in championship games we’ve had”

“Awful player and signing considering the outlay. Might be a decent lad but he looks way off being anywhere near good enough.”

“if we’re honest the blokes pretty horrific as a footballer. There were times when the sport of association football was the moon to him”

“His passing and crossing is lower end Championship quality at best. He will never cut it in the PL , I’m afraid.”

“Lower end championship. Without wanting to sound disrespectful, I wouldn’t want him in my team if I was chasing promotion.”

“Don’t rate him at all even at championship level”

“looked awful in the championship.”

“I don’t think he’s Championship quality.”

“Whenever we’ve had injuries at centre back the head coach has done just about anything he can to keep him out of the side. He’s rarely trusted him in defence other than the last few minutes in a game or as a late sub to go 5 at the back. Often he’s come on left side midfield – Le Bris seems to like his character, but almost not trust his ability.”

“He was better when he had blonde hair when he first joined”

“Reminds me of myself a little at football. I’m really not up to the standards of my friends at football, but i’ve basically been kept around for years because I run a lot, and seen as a laugh.
Hjelde’s 21 though, still got plenty of time to make sure he can become something better.”

“He’s never had anything like a decent run of games with us. I’m not saying he’s good enough for the premier league but he wouldn’t be the first player written off before he’s had a proper chance.”

“He always did ok at CB for me. Not a world beater but steady enough. He’s miles away from a being a good LB though.”

“We’ve not seen much of it but he’s got something about him I reckon. He could become a decent CB, but he really really does need to go out on loan to a Championship club/SPL club to get plenty of game time.”

“He’s a kid with plenty of development ahead of him in his preferred position. He may surprise quite a few people on here in time.”

“The lads 21 man, massively earlier to write him off. Have you all not learned that by now”

“Still very young, probably better at CB than LB, probably the quickest of our current CBs”

“People are judging him mainly as a LB and comparing him to Cirkin.
That’s not really fair. Cirkin is a natural LB who will know when to go forward etc. Hjelde was doing a job when filling in at LB so was never going to turn into Cirkin’s natural competition.
At CB, he’s solid championship level.  I haven’t given up hope on him.”

“Think he’ll be decent somewhere as a centre half with good game time. He’s cooked here though”

“I think he could make a decent Championship left sided centre half. He isn’t a full back for me but he has always looked decent at CB and a good season of playing week in, week out would do him wonders.”

“Will be fine for someone as a solid championship centre back. Decent defensively, crap on the ball which is likely to limit him to that.
Young for a CB still too.”

“Absolutely nowhere near as bad as some would have you believe.”

“not as bad as some make out and played his part last season”

“Seems to be a bit of a lucky mascot, bring him off the bench in games with about a minute left, even if we getting beat 0-5 at the time we will probably go on to snatch a point.”

“I think he’s capable of developing into a useful player for us.
He also seems to exhibit a brilliant attitude and that is important.”

“Everyone at the club loves him.”

“he seems so well liked that the players must see something in him as you wouldn’t expect a fringe player with no hope to be so well liked in the dressing room.”

“I just can’t see how a lad that struggled in the championship will suddenly improve enough to play in the Premiership. If he stays I hope he proves me wrong because he comes across as well liked within the squad.”
